2011 Lynden Music Festival

The ‘Claire de Lune’ Lynden Music Festival is to celebrate Lynden and its musical heritage, paying tribute to musicians who have greatly contributed to enriching the Lynden community with music, including Claire vg Thomas. The 2011 festival will be the thrid annual held on October 12th – Octtober 16th and highlights many special musical performances.


Wednesday, October 12th

Opening Ceremony: Johnny Barnes – vocal, acc. by Louis Lippman, Johannes Niskanen – Finnish accordionist, Mayor Scott Korthuis – 12pm, New City Hall, 300 4th St.
Java Jive: Jamie Severson & Melissa Broersma – acoustic – 2pm, Woods Coffee (Fairway Center), 1758 Front Street
Business Concert: Buckingham Sisters – string quartet – 4pm, Fishtrap Creek Interiors, 1899 Kok Road
Festival Gala: Children’s Choir, directed by Joy Grotenhuis, Lynden Middle School Winds, Buckingham Sisters – string quartet, Johannes Niskanen – Finnish accordionist, Gift Of Dance – dance ensemble – 7pm, Judson Hall, 516 Main St.
Festival Gala Reception: Johannes Niskanen – Finnish accordionist – 8:30pm, Pioneer Museum, 217 Front Street

Thursday, October 13th

Workshop: “Using the Voice to Benefit Instrumental Playing”, by Joy Grotenhuis – 10:30am, Second Christian Reformed Church, 710 Front Street. Includes salad luncheon by donation.
