The Old City Hall that was built in 1928 has been been gifted by Lynden City Council to The Jansen Foundation. The gifting is a requirement for the Jansen Foundation to take on the project, and will sink about $2 million into purchasing the adjacent Steinhauer Building and then fully renovate both structures into the Jansen Arts Center to be run as a local nonprofit. The renovation process is hoping to be completed in January, 2012. The proposed Jansen Arts Center would bring the building back to its historical roots.
